Ink or Toner - Which is More Suited to You ?

Ink or Toner- Choose the right printer which is more suited to you ? When it comes to choosing a new printer, many people are unsure whether to purchase an inkjet or laser toner printer. The main difference between ink and toner printers is the volume and type of printing that is to be produced by either printer. For example if you are producing reports in an office have very little use for colour in your printing then it is likely that a mono or black ink toner printer will suit your needs better than a printer that uses colour cartridges. Laser printers are available that will print only in black and the toner ink for them can be bought at a reasonable price if you consider using compatible toner ink.

Toner cartridges in Ireland are widely available on-line at greatly reduced prices and can result in businesses saving themselves quite a lot of money on an annual basis. Of course there are colour laser printers too that will print full colour and the toner ink for these will come in four cartridges black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The colour laser printer is for the heavy user who needs to print out colour documents and again these printers will produce high volume output at speeds much faster than inkjet printers. The cost of these laser printers and the toner ink they use will far outweigh the cost of a simple inkjet printer but will be more economical in the long run.

The inkjet printer is more suited to the home user who produces lower volumes of printing. This may be for a family with children attending school who need to print out documents on an ad-hoc basis. These printers are low cost initially to buy and again can be cheap enough to run if you concentrate on using good quality compatible ink cartridges. Likewise for the toner ink, using good quality compatible laser toner cartridges will save up to 40% off the cost of an original brand cartridge. An inkjet printer will typically produce 250 -300 pages at approximately 5% coverage per set of ink cartridges.

A laser printer will print thousands of pages depending on the model and of course this will be reflected in the cost. There seems to be a throwaway society now for most consumable items and unfortunately the inkjet printer seems to be falling into that category. It’s no longer viable to have an inkjet printer repaired, as the cost of replacing it will certainly be less than buying a replacement printer. In the case of a laser printer, the cost of the repair is likely to be less than the cost of replacing the printer.

How to Increase the Life of Your Printer Ink Cartridge in Galway

Click Here to Get Best Deals Ink Cartridges for Epson Printers
Buying ink cartridges in Galway is not something we want to do unless it is absolutely necessary and it never seems that long ago since we replaced the last lot we bought! If you own a printer that works using a colour cartridge that comprises of the three basic colours and one black cartridge, you may face the problem from time to time of the cyan (blue) ink running out with the magenta (red) and yellow still going strong. In this case you will find that you can still print but without the blue! In the case of some ink cartridges, the colours are separate and can be replaced individually when required.

Print Regularly

Printers are prone to drying out if they are not used regularly, so the first tip is to ensure that you print something through your printer at least once a week. Print anything, a timetable for school runs or a shopping list. It may seem like more work for you but it will save you money on cartridges in the long run. The idea is that you keep the ink flowing. Otherwise it is possible that the ink will dry up or even evaporate in some cases – of course this will depend on the conditions the printer is stored in. If you are buying replacement ink it is worth asking your local retailer about how often you should use your printer to prevent this happening. If the ink has not evaporated but dried up, then it will be necessary to run a head cleaning cycle and this will use up more ink and further drain the cartridge.

Top tips for making your ink cartridges in Galway go further

  1. Print your documents in Draft mode unless you are printing a business letter or a photograph
  2. Take the cartridge out and shake it gently before you replace it. There may be a little more ink in the tank.
  3. Turn off your printer when it’s not in use as unnecessary heat may cause the ink cartridge to dry up.
  4. Always clean the ink cartridge head using the utility or maintenance function on your printer.
  5. Store cartridges at room temperature and only buy enough cartridges to last you a year at a time. Apart from preventing the ink cartridges from drying out, you are sure to get better deals on-line as times goes on.
  6. Finally, only print if really essential – apart from keeping the ink flowing, that is!

At Last, Printing with HP Ink Cartridges is Affordable

HP Ink Cartridges with Multipack Offers HP printers have long been considered among the best in the business and are widely used both at home and in the office. However, until recently the ink cartridges have proven to be an expensive outlay especially if you are using the original brand cartridges. Why not choose the compatible cartridges people ask, well it is fair to say that HP don’t want you to use the compatible ink cartridges as this affects from their profit. In some cases it appears that HP have been offering firmware downloads to users of their printers in an attempt to increase the performance of the printer but in addition make it more difficult for you to use compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges. Let us take a look at one of more popular HP cartridges that is actually used in over 50 different HP printer models.

HP 364 ink Cartridges

The HP 364 ink cartridges are certainly widely used and up until recently have only been available as an original brand cartridge. The first cloned version of the cartridge to appear was the remanufactured HP 364 ink cartridge. This was moderately successful with some issues over the ink cartridge recognition. This was chiefly because the ‘chip’ from the old cartridge was reading as ‘used’ and therefore giving some confusion to the users and the printer! More recently the cloned compatible version of the cartridge has been launched and this has been hailed as a success due to the technology used to create it. The standard original brand HP 364 ink cartridge has a volume level of 6ml and will print approximately 250 pages @ 5% coverage. The compatible standard cartridge will hold up to 4 times that amount.

HP 364XL ink Cartridges

The HP 364 ink cartridge has an extra large version that is commonly known as the XL. This cartridge is physically the same size as the standard cartridge but the ink tank is filled to a higher level than it’s counterpart. The original brand HP 364XL cartridge has a volume level of 13ml that will print approximately 500 pages @ 5% coverage but the compatible version is filled to capacity with 18.6ml of ink. This is an increase of almost 50% above the original brand cartridge.

The quality and reliability of the compatible HP 364 ink cartridges are far superior to anything previously manufactured and as a rule of thumb have a failure rate of less than 1%. This must surely make them the buy of 2013 for HP users everywhere and with over 50 printers that accept these cartridges; it’s good news to be shared.

Where to buy the cheapest ink cartridges in Dublin

Buying cheap ink cartridges in Dublin has become more and more of an issue for those of us with printers at home and in the office. Do we shop locally or online for the best deals? Do we buy original brand or compatible ink cartridges? Surely the price must the first thing to take into consideration, after all the cost of running a printer for a busy family or office can add considerable pressure to the monthly budget.

Excellent Quality Ink Cartridges in Dublin

If you run out of ink cartridges in Dublin and are in a panic to replace them as you have a job to finish you need to consider if it’s worth your while to take a trip across the busy city or indeed to jump in the car and travel locally and buy the original brand cartridges.

If you consider the cost comparison first of all between the original brand cartridges and the compatible version there can be a difference of up to 70% in favor of the compatible. All the leading brands are now available as compatibles and in the present day 90% of them are reliable and produce good quality prints. The ink cartridges in Dublin currently available, or to be more precise, available on-line for next day delivery in Dublin are certainly worth exploring. Many good Irish on-line suppliers will provide a next day delivery service of excellent quality ink cartridges to your door saving you the time and expense of travelling to get your cartridges.

It may be that you can get cheap ink cartridges in Dublin but to be honest it’s unlikely that you will be able to access the same sort of deals that are available on-line. Find a supplier of reliable ink cartridges can be a concern to people but if you check out the supplier on facebook and check out any reviews that they have received that can generally point you in the right direction. Of course the returns policy is also important, for example will they give you a money back guarantee with your ink cartridges or at least offer you some technical support of you do have issues with the cartridges.

If you haven’t thought about ordering cartridges on-line don’t miss this opportunity to get the deals you would have never normally found anywhere else. Buying ink cartridges in Dublin will never bee the same again. Not only can you buy inkjet cartridges but also a lot of the same deals will apply on-line to laser toners. The compatible version of the toners are now manufactured to the same high standard as the originals and again many of the good Irish suppliers will offer a technical back up in case of any issues arising.

My Kodak Ink Cartridges are not being Detected by My Printer

Kodak Ink Cartridges are not being detected by printer If you have a problem with your remanufactured or compatible Kodak ink cartridges being detected by your printer, then follow the simple steps outlined below.

Carefully remove the carbon strip. Once the carbon strip has been removed from the cartridge please insert the cartridge into the printer. Please make sure that you NEVER touch the chip on the ink cartridges with your bare hands as this may damage the cartridge.

Cleaning blocked heads on my Kodak printer

From time to time the heads on your printer may become clogged and you will have to perform a head cleaning cycle. If the cartridges have not been used for a while it’s possible that they might develop a clog. Strangely enough, the ink cartridges cannot develop a blockage with the ink alone but if they pick up some paper dust then it’s possible that the two combined will cause hardening of the ink.
Begin by going to the printing preferences in the Kodak printer programme and select Maintenance. Follow these instructions to access your head cleaning cycle:

  • Start > (Control Panel)
  • Printer > then right click on the Kodak icon
  • Printing Preferences
  • Maintenance
  • Nozzle check
(This is important as it will print out a sheet that will show if the cartridges are printing correctly. You can compare the printed sheet to the on-screen image of correctly performing ink cartridges).
  • Head Cleaning
  • Test print

You will need to repeat the nozzle check each time you perform a head cleaning cycle to ensure that the printer cleans the head thoroughly. The printer will know when you are repeated cleaning it and gradually force more ink through the nozzle in an attempt to clear the blockage. You may use up more ink than usual performing the head cleaning operation and it may result in you replacing some of your empty cartridges. It is advisable to perform ahead cleaning cycle after each ink cartridge replacement, this will be in the printer handbook under maintenance.

For people who own the older version of the Kodak ESP printers it is recommended that you don’t download the firmware updates offered by Kodak if you are using compatible ink as this may affect the cartridge recognition. Lately the firmware downloads offered by HP, Epson and Kodak have been known to have a detrimental effect on remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges.

12 Simple Steps for Ink Cartridge Cleaning and Maintenance

Poor quality print outs are a common problems you are likely to encounter with a printer ink cartridge and below are 12 simple steps you can try to get your printer cartridge working again.

Cleaning and Maintenance of Ink Cartridge
  1. You may experience streaky or faint print outs even though you know for certain that there is still ink in the cartridge. Performing a nozzle check will confirm if the print heads are blocked.
  2. Go to the maintenance section of your printer, this is be located in the printer utility section where you would also perform the head cleaning cycle.
  3. Once in the maintenance section you can choose to print out a test page. This will tell you if your ink cartridge is actually printing properly as the print out should display clearly printed lines in the four colours; black, cyan, magenta and yellow.
  4. If you have a test print that shows incomplete lines or broken lines (you will be shown on screen a sample of what is the result of a correctly performing ink cartridge), you will be required to perform a head cleaning cycle.
  5. Let’s say that the yellow and cyan lines are fragmented but the black and magenta are not, you will be required to perform a head cleaning cycle that will clean all four print heads as it is not possible to clean one ink cartridge of your choice using the printer utility section.
  6. Usually it will take more than one head cleaning cycle to clear the blockage on the cartridge, it may take up to 3 or 4 attempts. The thing to remember is that every time you perform a head cleaning cycle the printer uses ink from the ink cartridge to force the ink through the blockage. It’s possible to empty a set of ink cartridges by performing 7 or 8 cleaning cycles in an attempt to unblock a print head.
  7. This is an unavoidable side effect of head cleaning and this may be as a result of the printer lying dormant at home or in the office for a long period of time without use. If possible, try running a sheet of paper through your inkjet printer at least once a fortnight. Hardening of the ink through lack of use is the most common reason for blacked heads or poor quality prints.
  8. In the case of an integrated print head where the freeing up of a blocked ink cartridge does not respond to the head cleaning cycle it may be necessary to explore some of the options below.
  9. Taking a sheet of paper towel and folding it 2 or 3 times to increase the thickness, dampen with some distilled water. Don’t over soak the paper towel, as we need to draw the ink out of the ink cartridge. It is best to use distilled or purified water, as this will prevent further damage to the print head.
  10. Wipe the print head along the direction of the print head using the paper towel to remove any residue that may be causing the blockage.
  11. The print head should actually look clean and shine after you have successfully wiped it. If you find that there is too much ink on the print head use more clean damp paper towel to further clean it.
  12. When you have cleaned the print head, take a fresh piece of paper towel, fold it again and slightly dampen it. Hold the new paper towel against the print head to see that now the ink cartridge is primed with the ink flowing each time you wipe the cartridge with moderate pressure. Simply reinstall the ink cartridge and proceed to print.

Compare the printer pattern with the sample above. If the nozzle check pattern does not print satisfactorily, click Clean. Click finish to quit.
