I need to replace my printer but am unsure if I should buy an inkjet or laser printer

If you have reached the point of no return with your printer and finally frustration gives way to spending some money on replacing your printer, how do you decide whether to go inkjet or laser?

Inkjet Or Laser Printer - Which is Suited to You??
Firstly consider how often you use the printer and how much money you spend on ink cartridges. If you only print once in a blue moon; for example printing your boarding pass when you are going on holiday, then an inkjet will suffice your needs. If several people in your home use the printer (during a school term this can mean the printer takes a hammering for ink and paper), it may still be advisable to stick with an inkjet printer. The crucial decision when buying an inkjet is the cost of replacing the cartridges, ask your supplier will the new printer use compatible inks, these can cost as much as 70% less than the original brand cartridges. Check with your ink supplier that the history of the printer working with compatibles is positive – worth checking this especially if you are thinking of purchasing a HP printer. Also, if you are just printing basic documents either in black and white or colour such as an Excel spreadsheet or emails then an inkjet printer should be sufficient. There will be a considerable difference in the price between an inkjet and laser printer – the inkjet will usually be less than €100. An all-in-one inkjet printer is useful because it gives you some features such as the copy facility that would be on a laser printer (but not at the same speed). Again, paying attention to the cost of a replacement ink cartridge is important, as it will impact on the cost of running the printer during its lifetime.

There are basically two types of laser printer, the basic document print and a Printer/Copier/Scanner. These printer uses laser toner cartridges as opposed to ink cartridges. The cost of printing per page is less with a laser printer than inkjet although the initial purchase price and toner cost is higher than its inkjet counterpart. The next major advantage is the print speed. A4 documents have been printed in bulk at a face pace. The downside is the cost of the toners, however, if you use the compatible or remanufactured toners this can give you considerable savings of approximately 40%. Overall, for long term high volume printing the laser printer is the better choice as the number of ink cartridges used for laser would be considerably less than that of an inkjet printer.

Can I get good quality prints using compatible ink cartridges in Galway?

If you have recently made the switch to using compatible ink cartridges then you will be enjoying cheaper printing and for general day to day use, see no difference in print quality.

Get Good Quality Print Outs Using Compatible Ink Cartridges in Galway
Compatible ink cartridges in Galway are becoming more and more popular due to the big savings on offer. When comparing prints from printers using original brand cartridges to those using compatible there is virtually no difference in the quality. The cost of an original brand Galway ink cartridge can be as much as 70% more than that of a compatible! For every day printing, the quality of either type of ink is pretty much the same. You may experience a difference in using the compatible cartridges if you are photo printing and clarity of colour is of vital importance. Also, the photo prints produced by a compatible may tend to fade in colour after a period of time whereas the original brand should not give you this problem.

Original brand printer ink in Galway can be more expensive per millilitre than champagne or Chanel No. 5! This is a discovery first made in the UK by the BBC team Watchdog as they investigated the excessive price of original brand ink cartridge compared to the low cost of the printers. Also many of the original brand cartridges are not filled to maximum whereas the compatibles generally are. If for example, there is only a slight difference in the price of a compatible ink cartridge in Galway and that of an original brand, then check the volume levels as the difference may be in the volume of ink actually in the cartridge as opposed to the price!

Good quality compatible inks will work in most brands of printers. In some cases where the printer rejects the cartridge or refuses to recognise it, a simple solution is available to overcome the issue. So the general rule of thumb for using compatibles or as some people refer to them, cheap ink cartridges in Galway, is that they are find for every day printing at home and in the office. The savings available when compared to using the original brand cartridges are too big to ignore.

How do I decide which inkjet printer is really the best value for me to use at home?

Choosing a new printer can be a nightmare if you don’t first decide on what type of printer need. Basically there are two types of user; light user – this person only uses the printer occasionally, and the heavy user who will regularly produce large print runs.

Choose Which Inkjet Printer is Really the Best Value for Home Uses
When you decide what category that you fall in to, the next step is to price the ink cartridges for the printer. This is where a lot of people get caught out as they are attracted to the low cost printers on sale in the large stores and often buy the printer without giving any consideration to the cost of the ink. Replacing an ink cartridge can be a costly exercise unless you revert to using a good quality compatible.

When choosing a replacement for a broken printer checking the price is important but also make a note of the cost of the original brand ink cartridges. Some printers will use two ink cartridges; black and colour and some photo printers will use between four and six colours. Next check that a compatible version of the ink cartridge is available – if the printer is very recent there may not yet be a compatible version available for that model. If a compatible version is available check the price against that of an original brand and calculate the savings. Lifting the phone and chatting to your online ink supplier before you buy your printer can also pay dividends. They are able to offer advice on the different printers that will accept the compatible inkjet cartridge will little chance of rejection. For example, Epson and Brother inkjet printers are more likely to accept the compatible inks without issue compared to HP printers.

This is particularly useful if you are a heavy user and have a substantial budget for in-house printing over the course of a year. There are big savings to be made by using compatible version of ink and toner. The same rules apply to laser printers although there is less likely to be any issues with toner cartridges than inkjets. The laser printers will be more for a heavy home user or office and they come as mono (black and white) or colour. A busy office will send a lot on ink and toner during the year so a good quality compatible toner can make a big difference to their expenses.

I am having a problem in printing my PDF file using Adobe Acrobat

If you are experiencing problems printing an Adobe Acrobat file there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the problem. The first thing to try is to make sure that your printer is properly connected and the cable is securely attached. If your printer is connected via a USB hub then disconnect it from the hub and connect direct into your computer. Switch off the computer then restart after 60 seconds.

If you are experiencing problems in printing an Adobe Acrobat file there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the problem.
Check to ensure you are using the latest printer driver. It’s possible that an updated version of the driver for your printer that will improve the compatibility between your printer and computer. Make a note of your printer model and visit the website of your printer manufacturer and search for printer driver. When you have found the correct driver for your printer click download. After the driver is downloaded you will need to restart your computer.

Of course we are assuming the fact that the printer will not print the PDF is due to a communication problem between the printer and the PDF but if it is a case that the printer will not print because it needs a replacement ink cartridge then that is a different matter entirely. If the printer recognizes the PDF but will not print it, then an error message will be displayed if the ink cartridges are due for replacement. You should go to file> print> properties and select maintenance and from there you can replace the ink cartridge.

If the ink cartridges are not the issue then you could try to print the document as an image. Print as an image can be found by clicking on the advanced dialogue box. The PDF could be a corrupt or damaged file and this will prevent the file from being printed. It will usually flag up a message to inform you this is the case. If the PDF was emailed to you by a third party request them to resend it as it may have become corrupt whilst in-flight. If you created the PDF file yourself, then delete the file and recreate the PDF.

A question that sometimes arises is whether using non-original ink cartridges can cause a PDF to fail to print. Usingcompatible inkjet cartridges will have no effect on whether the PDF will print or not. The quality of the print may be affected if you are using poor quality compatible ink but using third party replacement ink cartridges has no bearing on the issue of a PDF file not being recognised or printed direct from your computer.

Where can I find the best quality and cheapest ink cartridges in Cork?

As the price of original brand ink cartridges in Cork is on the increase more and more people are making the switch to using compatible ink in an effort to make savings on their printing. Some printer manufacturers have saturated the market with low cost printers in an effort to capture the unsuspecting public as returning customers when they need to buy the ink for their printer.

Shop for Best Value Ink Cartridges in Cork with Low Prices

The low cost printer that can be bought for as little as €40 can come at a price if you don't do your homework first. A good tip before buying the printer is to investigate cost of buying replacement ink from an ink shop in Cork. If the printer will accept compatible ink cartridges – not all printers will (especially some HP latest model printers), price the cartridges against their original brand equivalent.

Buying ink cartridges does not mean you have to shop in the high street, most of the Irish online suppliers will supply ink cartridges in Cork as next day delivery. The internet prices will be cheaper than the high street with offers such as free ink or low cost delivery to entice you to become a repeat customer. The best value ink cartridges in Cork coming either from an ink shop in Cork or bought online will be compatible or third party remanufactured.

The difference between compatible and remanufactured cartridges is best described as follows:

Compatible ink cartridges; Brand new printer ink manufactured as a copy of the original by a third party manufacturer. These are in effect clones of the original cartridges manufactured without infringing the copyright of the original brand cartridge. These cartridges will be cheap as they do not contain a print head and are made to suit printers that have the print head located in the printer.

Remanufactured ink cartridges; This is an original cartridge that has been returned to the factory, cleaned, refilled, tested and repackaged as new. The print head is located in the cartridge that is why it is financially viable to have them returned to the factory, refilled and resold as new.

My printer is connected to my computer but not printing

If a problem exists within your printer i.e. the printer driver or the application you are trying to print from try the following suggestions to identify and hopefully solve the issue.

Find useful suggestions if your printer is connected to your computer but it is not printing
Firstly, make sure your printer is switched on and ready to use and that the correct printer is set to default. This is accessible in printers and devices from your Start menu. If the printer is correctly set as the default printer or you need to select it as the one you are about to use then try to print a test page.

Try printing from Notepad or from a Word document. This verifies that the printer driver is correct, and confirms that the problem lies with the application. If you cannot print from Notepad or a Word file, the problem lies with the printer driver.

It may be necessary to uninstall the printer driver and install a newer version which you can download form your printer brand website. If the printer will print a test sheet but the print quality is poor then you may need to perform a head cleaning procedure. If the ink cartridges have not been used for a while it's possible that the print heads have become blocked. To perform a head cleaning procedure – depending on your printer – you can either complete this directly on the printer or through your PC and a Notepad or Word document.

Blocked print heads do not mean there is a problem with the ink cartridge as such, the ink has become hard and congealed around the print head and can be cleaned using one of the following methods.

For those printers that come with an interface, (this is basically a control panel normally located in a window on the front of the printer), this allows you to perform certain functions within the printer independent to the PC. With the printer switched on, move the arrow until you find maintenance then move the arrow until you locate head cleaning. Follow the operating instructions it gives making sure you have plenty of paper in the printer. It may take several attempts to clear a blocked printer head and even result in having to replace an ink cartridge as this procedure does use a lot of ink. The second option is from your PC – go to file > properties > maintenance > head cleaning. If there is no printer interface then you will have no choice but to perform this procedure. Remember it may take several attempts to clear a stubborn blockage.

It is more likely that this will happen when using compatible inkjet cartridges, as they do not contain the chemical found in original brand cartridges that prevents hardening of the ink.

How to Take Professional Photos and Print them in Cork on a Budget?

It's estimated that over 200,000 photographs are uploaded to the online every minute, but for those of us who like to print their photos as a hard copy wouldn't it be great to do it cheaply and still make stand the photos out from the crowd?

Take professional photos and print them using compatible ink cartridges in Cork on a budget.
As a keen amateur there are a couple things that you can do to help bring your photographs to the next level. Before you begin uploading images and sharing on your Facebook page it's worth considering the five key photograph attributes that will help you take and print top class photos.

The subject is the first important element of the photograph. Make sure it is a compelling subject, something people will be interested in. The lighting is the next important element to consider. Photographs are 2 dimensional but with good use of lighting it's possible to add texture to the subject the photo can appear almost 3 dimensional. Also, the time of day is important. Bright sunlight at mid-day may result in harsh, flat light while the lower angle of the sun later in the day will result in softer, warmer light.

Colour in the photo is important. Strong colours in good lighting add to the quality and appeal of the photograph. Composition of the photos in photography composition is the setting or arrangement of the visual elements, as distinct from the subject of a photograph. Gestures or implying movement in the photo adds interest and can make a good picture into a great one. Photos for web use do not require high-resolution files but or those photos you print yourself it's important to ensure your photo resolution is high quality.

Printing photos high quality for either framing or storing in albums invariably means printing on photo quality paper. It is also advisable to set your printing preferences to 'best photo'; this ensures your photo receives an evenly distributed amount of ink across the page.

Remember, printing an 8 inch by 10 inch photo can use a lot of ink and can be costly unless you purchase a supply of compatible ink cartridges in Cork. Compatible ink can cost as little as 70% of the original brand ink cartridges and make printing your photos very cost effective.
